Descrizione
Agar is a plant-derived gelling agent made from red seaweed. In cosmetics, it’s valued less for “treating” skin and more for giving formulas a smooth, stable texture. You’ll often find it in masks, gels, cleansers, and some hair products, where it helps create a pleasant slip, a lightweight film, and a more cushiony feel on application.
For skin, agar can make products feel refreshing and help them spread evenly without a heavy or greasy finish. In hair care, it may contribute to a soft, coating feel and help formulas hold their shape. People who like gel textures, plant-based ingredients, or minimalist-feeling formulas may especially appreciate it. It’s generally used as a functional support ingredient rather than a star active.
Caveats: agar itself is not a major moisturizer or treatment ingredient, so don’t expect dramatic skin or hair changes from it alone. As with any cosmetic ingredient, individual tolerance can vary, and the overall formula matters more than agar by itself.
