Zinc Sulfate is a water-soluble zinc salt used in cosmetics and personal care products. In skincare, it’s best known for its astringent and skin-conditioning properties, which can help reduce the look of excess oil and support a fresher, more balanced feel. It’s also used in some hair and scalp products, where it may help keep formulas focused on scalp comfort and oil control.
People with oily, shiny, or blemish-prone skin often find zinc-containing formulas appealing, especially in lightweight toners, serums, and spot-care products. In hair care, it can show up in scalp treatments or shampoos aimed at a cleaner-feeling scalp. Because it’s a salt, zinc sulfate can feel a bit drying or stingy in stronger formulas, especially on sensitive or already irritated skin.
