Hydrolyzed Elastin

Hydrolyzed Elastin is elastin that has been broken down into smaller protein fragments so it can be used more easily in cosmetic formulas. Elastin is a structural protein found in skin and connective tissue, where it helps tissues stretch and recoil. In skincare and haircare, hydrolyzed elastin is mainly used as a conditioning and film-forming ingredient, helping products feel smoother and more cushiony on the skin or hair.

For skin, it can give a temporary plumping, softening feel and may help reduce the look of dryness by supporting a more supple surface. In hair products, it is often used to improve softness, manageability, and the feel of damaged or dry strands. People with dry, rough, or mature-looking skin, as well as those with dry or stressed hair, may appreciate it most.

Caveat: hydrolyzed elastin is not a true “rebuilding” ingredient for skin or hair structure, and its effects are mostly cosmetic and temporary. It is generally well tolerated, but as with any ingredient, individual sensitivity can happen, especially in fragranced formulas or complex products.
